Sustainable Topics and Sector-Specific Groups Take the Centre Stage

The green economy and energy efficiency are the new focal points of the Manager Training Programme with Kyrgyzstan. In addition, in the coming years the emphasis will be more on sector-specific groups based on the needs of both national economies.

The representatives of the German and Kyrgyz governments and the partners of the Manager Training Programme (MP) decided on this at the first German-Kyrgyz Steering Committee in Bishkek at the end of November. Dr Heinz Hetmeier, Deputy Director-General at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action, and Kanat Abdrakhmanov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, chaired the meeting and both emphasised the high value of the Programme for cooperation between Germany and Kyrgyzstan.  They signed a Joint Declaration on 30 November 2022 to extend economic cooperation within the framework of the MP until 2024.

Successful German-Kyrgyz business cooperation

The outlook on the next years of cooperation was preceded by a review of 15 years of "Fit for Partnership with Germany". More than 100 alumni of the Manager Training Programme celebrated the successful cooperation between Germany and the Kyrgyz Republic on 29 November 2022 in Bishkek. Welcoming words by representatives of the German Embassy and the ministries involved, panel discussions on the added value that the Manager Training Programme has brought to both countries over the past 15 years, and presentations by successful participants showed the diversity of the Programme and led to a lively exchange. The alumni all agreed that the participation in the Programme had not only strengthened their management skills, expanded their knowledge of the German economy and led to new business partners, but, above all, had changed their own way of thinking and acting as managers.  As one alumna summed it up: “We have gained so many ideas for our business in Germany, which we can only gradually put into practice.”

The alumni then put their knowledge of the Programme to the test − in a quiz on the Manager Training Programme. The festive reception rounded off the eventful day. Everyone agreed that it had been a great time. And we will see each other at the next anniversary!
