A “Business Meeting Russia” with a cooperation exchange was held at the end of October 2014 within the framework of the MP for 17 Russian participants. It was organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry East Brandenburg in Frankfurt (Oder) and Bildungszentrum am Müggelsee GmbH.
The region of East Brandenburg offers numerous opportunities for cooperation with companies based there, particularly in the agricultural sector. Leonid Bojko from Berliner Sparkasse, who held a lecture on financing for business with Russia, explained to the participants how the framework can be best utilised. Marco Paul from Euler Hermes provided information on the possibilities of covering risks in business transactions with Russia. On the basis of specific examples, the executives learnt at first hand that German companies are still interested in cooperation with Russia, despite the policy on sanctions and embargoes, and that the framework conditions for such cooperation still exist. In his speech, Sergej Nikitin from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation described the current mood in the Russian business sector.
Representatives from more than 20 German companies registered for the cooperation exchange. Due to the enormous demand for talks, the exchange was organised as a “speed dating” event. Altogether, there were 56 individual talks, some of which also led to individual visits to German companies. The focus on the Russian side was particularly on agricultural machinery, ranging from the complete fleet up to vegetable sorting, shed automation or special seed that is well-suited to the local climate. Both the Russian and German participants found the cooperation exchange very good. At a politically difficult time, it was all the more important to initiate business contacts and indicate a willingness to cooperate, and this meeting in Frankfurt (Oder) was a good contribution.
