Shasenem Garlyyeva is a businesswoman through and through. With her two firms, she promotes business relations between Turkmenistan and Germany and contributes to bringing the cultures of the two countries closer together. She brings handmade home textiles made of camel hair into German living rooms. And in her own bakery, she will soon be delighting her fellow citizens with genuine German “Baumkuchen” layer cakes.

How can small and medium-sized enterprises benefit from digital media? How can they optimise marketing? And how can they find and retain qualified personnel? Turkmen alumni discovered the answers to these and other questions in a series of seminars organised for them by the Manager Training Programme.
Enterprises in Turkmenistan can participate in the BMWi Manager Training Programme for a further three years. Representatives of Germany and the Central Asian country have agreed on this. On 11 December 2020, Dirk Jakobi, Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Ashgabat, and the Turkmen Minister of Finance and Economy, Muhammetgeldi Serdarov, signed a Joint Declaration in the Turkmen capital Ashgabat on the extension of the Programme until the end of 2023. The focus of the training for entrepreneurs from six of the MP’s partner countries was on the topic of food processing.
Within the scope of personnel management training, a group of Turkmen participants took part in an interactive simulation in which they were able to demonstrate their team and leadership skills. The MP participants can now also put what they learned to good use when in negotiations with German business partners.
2019 was a notable year for entrepreneur Meretmuhammet Meredov. The Managing Director of “Kindi”, a baked goods producer in Turkmenistan, came to Germany to learn about new methods for making confectionary and to find partners for a joint venture.
